AcquiSci is developing a medical device-based technology with an anti-inflammatory therapeutic platform known as d-OSAB™ (doseable-Oxidative Stressed Autologous Blood) that may appreciably widen the present window of treatment for ischemic stroke. For Stroke, d-OSAB™ is projected to reduce inflammation surrounding a brain clot for up to at least 12 hours from the onset. The current standard treatment, tPA, is restricted to a 3-4.5 hour administration from stroke onset. The device has potential applications for other clinical indications, including Chronic Heart Failure, where inflammation is an underlying cause of disease, and as a purification process for the production of pathogen-free biologics, i.e. the inactivation of infectious prions, the rogue protein attributed to Mad Cow and Creutzfeldt-Jacob diseases. Prototype and proof-of-concept studies supporting the initial application for treatment of ischemic stroke have been completed and published. There is an equipment component and disposables for stroke treatment and both are revenue sources for the Company.
