Amplitude Vascular Systems (AVS) is a medical device company founded in 2017, focused on treating severely calcified arterial disease. Established by a team from the University of Michigan, including interventional cardiologist Hitinder Gurm, M.D., and Chief Technical Officer Robert Chisena, Ph.D., AVS has developed the Pulse IVL™ system. This proprietary technology uses pulsatile intravascular lithotripsy (PIVL) to gently fracture calcium deposits in arteries, enhancing vessel compliance and improving treatment safety and effectiveness. The Pulse IVL system is a minimally invasive, single-device solution that increases procedural efficiency for healthcare providers. AVS has conducted successful proof-of-concept studies and early human cases, with ongoing clinical studies like the POWER PAD I and II IDE studies at multiple U.S. sites.
