About
Amplitude Vascular Systems (AVS) is a medical device company founded in 2017, focused on treating severely calcified arterial disease. Established by a team from the University of Michigan, including interventional cardiologist Hitinder Gurm, M.D., and Chief Technical Officer Robert Chisena, Ph.D., AVS has developed the Pulse IVL™ system. This proprietary technology uses pulsatile intravascular lithotripsy (PIVL) to gently fracture calcium deposits in arteries, enhancing vessel compliance and improving treatment safety and effectiveness. The Pulse IVL system is a minimally invasive, single-device solution that increases procedural efficiency for healthcare providers. AVS has conducted successful proof-of-concept studies and early human cases, with ongoing clinical studies like the POWER PAD I and II IDE studies at multiple U.S. sites. Headquartered in Boston’s Seaport District, AVS aims to improve outcomes for patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and other calcified arterial conditions, serving interventional cardiology and vascular medicine specialists.
