Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited (AMTZ) is India's first and largest dedicated medical device manufacturing hub, established in 2016 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Located in Visakhapatnam, AMTZ spans 270 acres and aims to enhance domestic production of high-end medical devices, making healthcare products more affordable and accessible. AMTZ operates as an integrated manufacturing ecosystem, offering ready-to-use spaces for around 200 independent manufacturing units. It features advanced common scientific and manufacturing facilities, which help reduce costs and accelerate product development. The zone provides a variety of specialized services, including component testing, sterilization, and rapid prototyping, along with support for regulatory processes and incubation. AMTZ has played a vital role in healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, by producing significant quantities of essential medical supplies. It supports a range of innovations, such as the 3netra eye screening device and the TTK Chitra Heart Valve. Serving over 100 companies, AMTZ contributes to both domestic healthcare needs and international exports, reinforcing its position as a key player in the global MedTech landscape.
