The AngioExpand™ Catheter Introducer for central blood stream access was developed to reduce patient trauma and improve the traditionally used Modified Seldinger Technique procedure widely used for central line access. The AngioExpand device meets three critical needs in placing Central lines into the vascular tree:
– The device significantly reduces the initial wound and vessel wall trauma by reducing the needle cross-sectional area over 78%
– It reduces cannulation risk significantly through the use of a small bore needle.
– The expanding tip allows the use of standard sized guide wires and small PICC lines (3 French or Smaller) to be placed directly thereby reducing procedural steps and the potential for errors.
The AngioExpand Catheter Introducer is patented and fully cleared for sale in the United States by the FDA. A.B. Korkor Medical is in the process of identifying a marketing partner to manufacture and sell this unique device.
