However, under some circumstances ulcers may form and wounds may heal slowly, becoming chronic. In these cases extensive treatment and medication are required and with a significantly increased healing time. In the worst cases healing times extend to several years and some may never truly heal. Biovotec is developing a series of next-generation, advanced wound care products based on a novel biomaterial derived from hen eggshell membrane. Thanks to a novel separation and purification process - exclusively available to Biovotec – functional biomaterials can now be produced based on native, unmodified eggshell membrane.
