Botswana Vaccine Institute

The Botswana Vaccine Institute (BVI) is an established animal pharmaceutical organization founded in 1978, with over 45 years of experience in providing high-quality vaccines for animal health. BVI plays a vital role in supporting Botswana’s beef trade by controlling transboundary animal diseases and public health concerns, ensuring the continued export of Botswana beef to markets like the European Union. BVI specializes in the development, production, and supply of animal vaccines, with a flagship product being the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine. The institute exports approximately two-thirds of its vaccines to over 15 countries in Africa and the Middle East, contributing to national disease control programs. BVI is committed to international vaccine standards and maintains a robust quality management system. It is also focused on diversifying its product portfolio under its strategic plan "Lepelong ya Moleepi" (2021–2025), aiming to generate 40% of revenue from additional product lines.
