About
The Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT) is a collaborative research and development organization established in 2018 through a partnership between the University of Toronto and the National Research Council of Canada. CRAFT aims to advance microfluidic technologies to enhance disease diagnosis, treatment, and biomedical research, positioning Canada as a leader in this field. CRAFT operates three main facilities: the Device Foundry, which focuses on designing and manufacturing microfluidic devices; the Tissue Foundry, which supports cell culture and imaging for validating these devices; and the NRC Device Fabrication and Scale-up Facility, which specializes in scaling up manufacturing for wider distribution. CRAFT offers services such as prototyping, analytical services, biological imaging, and photomask production, catering to academic researchers, industry partners, and government users. The center's research focuses on portable point-of-care diagnostics, organ-on-a-chip technology, and microfluidic device manufacturing. CRAFT has engaged numerous researchers and trainees, contributed to many publications, and supported the creation of spin-off companies, driving innovation in healthcare solutions and scientific advancements.
