Cervia Diagnostic Innovations, a company whose goal is to develop an effective molecular test for cervical cancer screening. Currently Pap smears are used to screen women for cervical cancer. Even though millions of lives have been saved by the Pap test over the last 90 years, this test suffers from very low accuracy of 40% and as a result many women with cervical cancer are sent home undiagnosed. Most of these inaccuracies result from the Pap smear being a technique that relies on subjective human interpretation rather than precise molecular evaluation. Our mission is to develop a new molecular diagnostic for screening of cervical cancer. Pap smears are outdated, inaccurate and need to be replaced.
