We are building a non-invasive cholesterol monitor, based on near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. This first-in-market innovation provides portable, real time monitoring. NIR spectroscopy is a widely used technology in the medical field; for instance, it is used in glucometers and pulse oximeters. The beachhead segment are hospitals treating familial hypercholesterolemia patients. Our device could facilitate patient-doctor communication and limit the amount of discomfort experienced by patients, thereby encouraging more patients to self-manage their cholesterol level.
