About

There is a blind spot in chronic disease management. Basic non-invasive vital signs do not provide a full picture of patient cardiovascular health, ultimately requiring clinicians to use more invasive diagnostic methods. These methods are often unavailable at lower levels of care or are not scalable to the large and growing number of chronic disease patients. Tissue oximetry, a direct measurement of tissue perfusion, can complete the picture of cardiovascular performance but has limited utility due to size and cost of the required instruments. We designed the first miniaturized, scalable, non-invasive, wireless tissue oximeter with broad potential applications in the monitoring of high-volume chronic diseases. The ability to perform continuous, real-time tissue oxygen monitoring and identify tissue perfusion trends at any level of care may help detect declining health earlier, including reduced cardiovascular performance, and lead to earlier treatment and disease management. Our multimodal sensors are designed to bring real-time perfusion and hemodynamic monitoring to any level of care, reducing clinical surprises, length of stay, and cost. Providing clinicians with a monitoring solution that offers non-invasive, continuous tissue oximetry trending, as well as other hemodynamic measurements, in a scalable, reusable, per patient fee-based format will be a game-changer. Envello Medical is a subsidiary of NIRSense, a pioneering medical device company that was contracted by the Department of Defense to protect the health of U.S. warfighters, backed by more than $28 million in U.S. military funding. We are led by an executive leadership team with expertise in business, startups, and engineering and are also guided by seasoned entrepreneurs, clinicians, and academics.
