eyeTelemed, in conjunction with the RVEEH, has developed an eye telehealth platform that allows minimally trained operators in Primary Healthcare settings such as Emergency Departments or screening settings to capture critical data about a patient’s eye. The data is then transmitted via the eyeTelemed Platform to a remote specialist for assessment.

The key products that form the eyeTelemed Platform are:

• eyeConnect – an automated remote telehealth assessment system that captures high resolution eye images, tonometry, other ophthalmic eye tests and patient history into a single patient report. It collects a standard package of diagnostic information from a patient at any location and transmits it to a specialist at any site for assessment and/or screening. The specialist reviews patient information from anywhere using an easy to use web browser and communicates patient instructions/assessment back to the clinicians at the patient site.

• eyePressure – a disposable eye pressure assessment device that is low cost. It is a single patient use device that empowers the primary healthcare community with a tool to identify patients with high eye pressure. A simple hand-held device, it is easily applied to the patient’s eye. The detection of high eye pressure can indicate serious eye diseases such as glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness.
