About

ForCast Orthopedics, Inc is an early stage combination device company with an important mission for improving treatment of orthopedic infection, specifically periprosthetic joint and spinal infections. Treatment options today are poor and frequently fail with persistent infection requiring multiple surgeries. We've heard many stories told about patients suffering after pursuing a common, reliable arthroplasty procedure to improve their quality of life. With any surgery, infection is a known risk and troublesome. Too frequently, treatment for periprosthetic infections becomes tragic. ForCast Orthopedics was founded by a leading orthopedic surgeon and an experienced med-tech executive. Together with an experienced team, we are pursuing an improved approach for PJI treatment. Local antibiotic delivery allows us to use available and potent antibiotics against biofilms formed on artificial material surfaces that are the root cause of current treatment failure. However, current antibiotic administration methods (PICC lines, cement spacers and beads) cannot achieve biofilm eradication concentrations overtime at the infection site, e.g. sub-therapeutic for biofilm! Intraarticular Antibiotic Injection (IAI) therapy has been demonstrated in TKA and THA infections to be safe and effective through previously published clinical research using a manual method. Our products will automate this approach to duplicate successful patient outcomes, reduce cost, patient morbidity and expanding clinical adoption. Please note, ForCast's products; ACK Spacer and RIDDS have not yet been reviewed or cleared for sale by the FDA. These products are not yet available for sale.
