The device is designed specifically for bilateral above knee amputees to maximize their mobility close to the ground, it was originally designed it for performing mechanic work. The device minimizes effort to stand up from any position, to move short distances, reach items on the ground, lift heavy objects, or simply work out. In my case it significantly reduces strain on the lower back. The rounded design allows the amputee to naturally place the femurs in the best possible position for their lower back.
