There is a rising need for customizable and patient-oriented medical tools that aid pediatric education interventions like medical play and desensitization. These interventions aim to relax and teach a child about an upcoming medical procedure, reducing distress and increasing tolerance. Even in high resource settings, education tools for these therapies are overlooked by medical device manufacturers. The burden to obtain these tools falls upon child life therapists, who must purchase exorbitantly-priced tools or make them by hand. Patients and the specialists treating them deserve a solution that replaces the time-intensive, costly tools for medical play and desensitization, while better addressing patients' individual needs. Health 3D is a student-run social enterprise that creates 3D printed tools for pediatric patient education.
