About
Hewatele Limited is a Kenyan social enterprise founded in 2014 by the Center for Public Health and Development. The company focuses on improving the availability, affordability, and accessibility of safe medical oxygen in Kenya and Eastern Africa. Its mission is to ensure that oxygen is accessible to all patients in need, particularly for maternal, child, and newborn health. Hewatele operates multiple Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants, including facilities in Siaya County, Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, and Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi. The company has innovated a skid-mounted compact PSA plant for flexible installation and offers services such as procurement, installation, and training for plant operators. Additionally, Hewatele employs a "milkman delivery model" to supply oxygen to smaller, remote clinics, ensuring access in underserved areas. The company aims to expand its capacity by constructing a liquid oxygen manufacturing facility. Its customers include hospitals and clinics, with a focus on vulnerable groups like children and expecting mothers. Hewatele emphasizes partnerships between government and private sectors to enhance healthcare outcomes and oxygen availability in the region.
