Leto Solutions, Inc. is a start-up company with core technology that has multiple applications in improving healthcare through effective temperature management. The Aquilonix™ Prosthesis Cooling System is an innovative medical device designed to resolve a problem common to the 1.3 million lower limb amputees in the U.S. By maintaining a cool, dry, environment within a prosthetic socket, the Aquilonix System improves comfort and quality of life for all transtibial (below-the-knee) amputees.

When an amputee wears their prosthesis, the muscles of their residual limb generate heat. The insulating properties of the prosthesis socket result in trapping the heat and the accumulation of sweat. This is uncomfortable, disrupts the amputee’s daily activities, and impacts their overall quality of life. In addition, the heat and sweat can lead to serious and costly medical problems such as skin degradation, rashes, irritations, and infection. Furthermore, sweat can compromise the fit of the prosthesis resulting in friction blisters that limit the amputee’s use of the prosthesis. The accumulation of heat and sweat can severely impact the amputee’s quality of life, health, and independence. Leto Solutions is dedicated to improving the comfort and quality of life for all who wear prosthetics.

The second application for Leto’s core technology provides therapeutic brain cooling, an effective treatment for cases of traumatic brain injury, stroke, sports concussions, post-cardiac arrest hypoxia, and epilepsy. Reducing the temperature of the brain results in neuroprotection and lowering the risk of long term neurological impairment. Currently in development, Leto’s product will be small, portable, and field-deployable by military medics and civilian first responders.

Leto Solutions has been named one of the Top Ten Life Science Companies in Texas by the Texas Life Science Venture Forum. The company has also been widely recognized through technical and business articles.
