Lightpoint

Lightpoint Medical is a private limited company based in Amersham, England, founded in 2012. The company specializes in developing advanced medical instruments, particularly miniaturized imaging and sensing tools aimed at enhancing cancer surgery outcomes. Their key innovation is the LightPath™ system, which utilizes intra-operative molecular imaging technology for real-time cancer detection during surgery. This portable scanner helps surgeons identify and remove cancerous tissue more accurately, addressing the challenges of high failure rates in cancer surgeries. The technology is applicable to various cancer types, including stomach, colorectal, breast, prostate, and lung cancers. By facilitating real-time detection, Lightpoint Medical's solutions aim to reduce the need for repeat operations and additional treatments, ultimately improving patient survival rates and lowering healthcare costs. The company also develops imaging tools that integrate with robot-assisted surgery platforms, incorporating AI and cancer-targeted imaging agents to further enhance surgical precision. Their products are primarily targeted at hospitals, surgical centers, and healthcare providers involved in cancer treatment.
