Motus Innovations started out as the dream of founder and now CEO, Ross Ward, and is developing a new generation of low cost robotic rehabilitation devices. The mission: to make rehabilitation technology more accessible to those who need it most.
Stroke is the biggest cause of adult disability in the UK, and its effects can have huge physical and psychological impacts, both on stroke survivors and their families. Having seen his own grandmother struggle with disability following a stroke, Ross turned to rehabilitation aides and robotic assistive devices, but with many systems costing tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds, it was clear that few stroke sufferers could access this highly beneficial technology. Motus Innovations was therefore founded with the basis of putting control of rehabilitation back in the hands of those who need it.
By applying the principles of robotic rehabilitation and neuroplasticity, and focussing on key functional requirements, our system supports patients throughout the full rehabilitation process, assisting them in performing vital functional movements of the upper limb, whilst remaining easy to use, lightweight, and affordable.
