Nanostim, Inc.
About
Nanostim, Inc. was a medical device company focused on developing miniaturized, leadless pacemakers. Its main product, the Nanostim™ leadless pacemaker, innovatively eliminated the need for traditional leads and surgical pockets. This device was designed for implantation directly into the heart through a minimally invasive procedure using a steerable catheter, which reduced surgical risks and complications. The Nanostim leadless pacemaker received CE Mark approval for marketing in select European countries and obtained conditional approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin pivotal clinical trials. In 2013, Nanostim was acquired by St. Jude Medical for $123.5 million, integrating its leadless pacemaker technology into St. Jude Medical’s product portfolio. This acquisition marked a significant advancement in cardiac pacing technology.
