About
Nasotrak is developing a nasogastric tube (NGT) system which uses ultrasound technology to help the user to determine the location of the distal end of the NGT to give a real-time, accurate and safe means of tube's position before feeding. Commonly used methods for detecting correct NGT placement are pH aspirates and X-rays. However, these methods are not foolproof: pH aspirates cannot be immediately drawn in more than 50% of patients and misinterpretation of X-rays were responsible for 45% of misplacements. In 2017, 40 million NG tubes were used annually for an estimated total market of $385 million. The global NGT market is expected to have a CAGR of 6%, reaching ~$546 million in 2022.
