(ODTx™) was formed in May 2009 as a unique joint venture between InterWest Partners, a leading diversified venture capital firm, and MicroCHIPS, a developer of intelligent implant systems. In addition to its own intellectual property, ODTx has acquired exclusive ophthalmology rights to the extensive patent portfolio and technical expertise developed by MicroCHIPS in the areas of implantable drug delivery and monitoring devices. With its initial funding, ODTx has already demonstrated key features of the delivery technology in vivo. ODTx is now proceeding to create relationships with pharmaceutical and medical device companies interested in developing differentiated ophthalmic products based on this breakthrough drug delivery platform.
