Orthosium was founded in 2018 in Toronto. Each year in Canada there are over 200,000 lower body injuries that require a walking boot and more then 140,000 hip and knee surgeries. Over 170,000 as these require some limitations on body weight applied. Patients are prescribed a weight-bearing protocol to limit the amount of weight that should be applied to the injury. Over 37% of patients are non-compliant, which can lead an extended recovery period and even possible revision surgery. Through our collaboration with orthopedic clinics, our medical device, the CastOff Insole/Pod, enables patients to monitor their recovery in real-time. By complying with their weight-bearing limits, patients gain the confidence to walk.
