About
Powers, an early-stage medical device company, has recently gone to market with a patented, FDA 510k approved medical device, Pacifier Activated Lullaby system (PAL®) that stimulates the sucking reflex in premature infants, teaching them to feed on their own. Premature infants come into this world before developing the ability to suck productively and feed successfully, a critical behavior for both survival and neurological development. Extensive 5 year clinical studies and scientific research studies by prestigious research universities have proven PAL’s effectiveness and have shown that use of PAL® results in: (1) Earlier removal of feeding tubes (2) Earlier transition to oral feeding (3) Shorten length of hospital stay and (4) Improved behavioral state control for drug-addicted babies. Currently in 10 hospitals, PAL® offers a strong economic incentive to hospitals, qualifying for insurance reimbursement and saving approximately $10,000 per infant treated.
