Our company is specialized in creating innovative rehabilitation systems for stroke patients. The company’s goal is to find innovating solutions and create rehabilitation systems, which will give patients the opportunity for a better and more qualitative rehabilitation to a faster recover. During the product design we follow a pioneering method, in accordance to which we firstly deconstruct the rehabilitation process to provide a unique solution worldwide based on our patent pending invention.
The team was created in December 2017 and consists of four members all affiliated with Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).
Our team is composed from a Senior Researcher Grade A’ (Dr. Tzovaras), a post-doctoral researcher (Dr. Kostavelis) and two research assistants (Mr. Sideridis and Ms Koltzi). Dr Tzovaras is the Director of the ITI, being the scientific responsible and coordinator of the RETOucH project. Dr. Kostavelis holds a Phd in robotics, currently is a post-doctoral research associate in ITI, with the main role of technical management it the project. Mr. Paschalis Sideridis holds a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is responsible for the electromechanical development of the product. Ms Koltzi holds a diploma in Physiotherapy and retains great experience in target audience’s requirements, where within the RETOucH project she provides the scientific guidelines for the medical point of view during the product’s design. External advisor of our team is Dr. E. Kontaxakis, Director of Metropolitan College, who is responsible for the design of clinical trials at rehabilitation centres.
The RETOucH exoskeleton is a robotic rehabilitation system that is based on the needs of each stroke patient. The problem is that there isn’t any rehabilitation product that can be applied to the rehab process right after a stroke. The RETOucH is a new solution with targeted recovery that gives patients the opportunity to start the active rehabilitation process right after a stroke incident due to its innovative characteristics. It allows the user to start the upper limb movement immediately after the stroke and also uses assisted mobilization, since this system can determine the size of brain damage and thus helps the patients as long as it is required.
