The Salt Creek International Women's Health Foundation (SCIWHF) was founded to the support the potential of the HemOcclude System to provide a definitive bedside treatment of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in resource-limited health care settings, specifically in developing nations. PPH causes preventable maternal deaths. It is the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide, accounting for 33.9% of maternal deaths in Africa, 30.8% of maternal deaths in Asia, and 25.7% of maternal deaths in Latin America.
