Precision medicine is the adaptation of a medical treatment to the exact molecular profile of each patient. More generally, it relies on the sophisticated analysis of circulating biomarkers (genetic, protein or cellular) in the blood flow of patients.
SmartCatch arises from a research work initiated in 2012 by a team of multidisciplinary scientists from the Laboratory of Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS, CNRS) and urologist surgeons of the IUCT-Oncopole and Toulouse hospital. The results of this work have been patented in February 2015. Carried by four of its inventors, SmartCatch was established in September 2016 and exploits an innovative technology of physical capture of circulating tumor cells.
SmartCatch designs capture micro-devices that look like micro-fishnets. These products can be used for early diagnosis of cancer, personnalized therapeutic follow-up and pharmaceutical screening.
