Steady Shot

My name's Shawn and I'm type I diabetic on MDI, diagnosed in 2012. I was never afraid of needles, and I could give myself injections easily. It was never a problem for me until I started to notice some bruising on my abdomen and thighs. Early stages of a condition called lipohypertrophy. My doctor always told me to rotate injection sites to avoid these problems, but being my stubborn self, I didn't because my abdomen and thighs were easiest to reach. Fast forward a few years and... While in college at the University of Wisconsin Madison, I was in an entrepreneurship class and learned the best products are made by solving problems you have yourself. I went to the drawing board and the idea for Steady Shot was born. After 3D printing an array of prototypes and pitching my idea, I was accepted into an on-campus startup accelerator. After learning so much and working with incredible mentors, the final Steady Shot versions were made and the product was ready for the market. For the first time, I could use my left hand to inject and reach the far-left side of my body, left hand to my right arm, etc. Since I've used Steady Shot every day, for every injection. I can reach sites I couldn't before and I'm motivated to get Steady Shot out there because I know others will experience the same. Sincerely, Shawn Michels
