Tavor has created a durable and efficient solution for ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament)
reconstruction surgery. 600,000 procedures are performed annually in this global market of
$1.5B. Tavor’s product, KNEE-T-NOLTM is an artificial implant and offers a safe and effective
off-the-shelf alternative to tendons harvested from the patient or cadaver.
KNEE-T-NOLTM is a ligament prosthesis made from braided, super-elastic Nitinol strands.
This provides the mechanical strength needed for tension, while allowing flexion and torsion,
the dominant modes of operation for the ACL. The use of Nitinol alloy prevents common
phenomena such as fatigue, creep and leeching, which were associated with earlier-generation
polymer-based solutions. The braid is attached at the femoral and tibial ends using standard
fixation devices such as cortical buttons, cross pins or screws.
