Pap smears and HPV testing are effective methods for detecting cervical cancer, which is the 4th most common cancer among women. However, in Ghana, fewer than 2.5% of the population undergoes these screenings. As an M-HEAL project team, we are collaborating with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana, and Dr. Dhanu Thiyag at Michigan Medicine to create an affordable, non-invasive urine collection device for HPV screening. Our goal is to contribute to the prevention of cervical cancer.
