TeerEx GmbH
About
TeerEx is a Swiss-based MedTech startup developing the world's first minimally invasive device for the safe and effective removal of failed transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) implants, such as MitraClip and Pascal. Our solution addresses a critical clinical gap: when TEER devices fail, patients are often left with limited and high-risk treatment options. TeerEx offers a catheter-based alternative to open-heart surgery, enabling second-line therapies such as surgical mitral valve repair or transcatheter valve replacement. The TeerEx team brings a unique foundation in veterinary medicine, with deep expertise in preclinical cardiovascular research, large-animal models, and translational medicine. This background equips us to design solutions grounded in anatomical realism and procedural feasibility, bridging the gap between experimental innovation and clinical application. Developed in close collaboration with Swiss Innovation Park Biel/Bienne (SIPB) and the Large Animal Surgery and Cardiovascular Research Lab (LASC) at the University of Zurich, TeerEx is currently in preclinical development. Our mission is to expand treatment possibilities and improve outcomes for patients facing TEER failure.
