The BuddyGuard Corporation is a healthcare assistive medical device company. It is a California Corporation. The company is inspired by a Registered Nurse of 40 years and a Doctor of Psychology, Dr. Margarita Clement, who invented a wearable device while serving as the caregiver for her ailing stepfather, "Pappa". She was challenged to help him move despite having polio in her left hand. Under her care, he never came down with a single bedsore, which inspired her to help other caregivers facing the task to help move or reposition their loved ones. It was from personal experience in working with patients and her own stepfather, that she saw the need for a safer way to help move or turn patients in bed.
