The Tremitas GmbH is a medical technology company with headquarters in Klagenfurt/Austria. Tremitas is specialised in the development of medical devices that are used in the area of neurological movement disorders. The company was founded in 2015 by the biomedical engineer Tibor Zajki-Zechmeister, the software developer DI László Zajki-Zechmeister and the business economist Dr. Tara Geltner.
The first medical device of Tremitas is the Tremipen®, an easy to use mobile measurement device that can capture human tremor (shaking) in the hands in just 30 seconds. The handling is as easy as using a clinical thermometer and measurements can be performed by patients themselves, without the assistance of medical personnel. With that, the objective therapy monitoring of tremor becomes possible for the first time because the results of regular measurements show how the tremor behaves and changes under the influence of the chosen therapy approach.
In cooperation with the Medical University of Graz (Austria) a clinical trial was performed in the year 2016, where it was proven that the Tremipen® is able to measure tremor objectively and can provide information about drug efficacy.
Shaking hands are especially known due to diseases like Parkinson’s or essential tremor because within these diseases tremor is a common symptom. Because of the personal contact to family members with tremor diseases, Tibor Zajki-Zechmeister had the initial idea for the Tremipen® already during his studies of biomedical engineering at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. Now the Tremipen® is ready for series production and a CE certified medical device of the class Im.
For the usage at home there is a Tremipen® Home version available, which allows easy measurements for everybody. Medical telemonitoring could be applied by using the mobile application designed for the device.
