About
1.4 billion complete blood cell counts are done annually in the US and account for 15% of total Medicare Part B payments. One of the primary applications of CBCs is tracking neutropenia in cancer patients. Neutropenic fever, a precipitous drop in white blood cells, typically carries an overall mortality rate of 4-30% and can happen very suddenly. This problem continues to grow as the population ages as cancer incidence rate is expected to spike by 45% by 2040. Truecyte was created to make tracking of blood cell counts cheaper and easier, starting with primary care and healthcare deserts, to reduce neutropenia risk and life impact for low-income and middle-income patients of chemotherapy.
