The Instituto Nacional de Cancerología (INCan) is Mexico's leading public institution for cancer research, treatment, and education, established in 1946. Located in Mexico City, it is one of the largest comprehensive cancer centers in Latin America, serving over 5,000 new patients each year, particularly from low-income and rural backgrounds. INCan offers a variety of services, including specialized cancer diagnosis and treatment, inpatient care with 172 beds, ambulatory chemotherapy, and 24/7 emergency oncology care. The institute also has extensive pathology and molecular diagnostics departments to support personalized treatment. In addition to medical services, INCan is a training center for healthcare professionals, annually educating around 250 residents in various oncology specialties and providing fellowships and specialty training for nurses and other professionals. INCan's mission is to enhance healthcare, education, and research in oncology, aiming to control cancer and mitigate its impact on public health in Mexico. It is recognized internationally and has been a full member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) since 1962.
